Nov 30,  · Toshi Makihara's (b. ) performance work effortlessly blends percussion with dance-like body movement. Through a rigorous, systematic, and practiced process of experimentation and repetition, Makihara seeks out sounds that he and others have never heard before, experimenting with touch, force, and speed, and always remaining aware of sound's.

John Dikeman / Jon Barrios / Toshi Makihara We Need You [eh?37] David Moscovich Ass Lunch almost half the album. Here the group plays within the constraints and expectations of a live set - providing more variation, a greater ebb and flow and maybe less indulgent. Much less tracks - five in total - spanning almost the entire eighty.

Dikeman / Barrios / Makihara -- WE NEED YOU [Eh?] Featuring John Dikeman on tenor sax, Jon Barrios on bass, and Toshi Makihara on percussion, the three tracks on this release -- a total of approximately forty minutes -- are a perplexing assortment of squeaks and creaks, esoteric free jams that as often as not degenerate into stretches of near-silence before climbing back up into agitated .

We Need You is something completely different. Like Sad Sailor they make their statement in about half an hour. It is an improv trio with John Dikeman on tenor sax, Jon Barrios on bass and Toshi Makihara on percussion. All three of them are experienced musicians which is clear from the start. Dikeman let his sax squeak, murmur, etc.
